On Race Day
What Happens Before and After the Race
- Listen to your body, if you're not well on the day - please don't run - there will be plenty of other races
- Drink plenty of fluids
- Stick to your tried and tested diet on race day; 12th October is not the day to experiment
- Make sure your friends know your race number and likely finishing time
- If you drop out notify the nearest marshal/first aid point so supporters waiting for you can be informed
- Start the race well hydrated and drink whenever you can, especially in the first half of the race, but do not gulp down large volumes of liquid.
- At the finish do not stand about getting cold - keep walking and drink as much fluid as you can
- Change into dry warm clothes as soon as possible
- Keep on drinking and have something to eat
- Running a half marathon is a serious business and not to be taken lightly. Don't be foolhardy, respect the race, respect your life

Race Numbers
Your race number has a timing chip attached (excluding the Fun Run). Please do not tamper with or remove this chip. Follow the instructions on the reverse of the number and avoid damaging the chip and wire aerial when pinning it to your vest. Make sure that your number is displayed vertically and not folded when finishing. The chip will be detected as you cross the finish line and your time and race number will be recorded automatically.
After finishing, your number will be scanned by marshals using hand-held detectors. This is only a back-up, your time is recorded as you cross the finish line.
Please make sure that you are wearing your own race number and under no circumstance should you allow someone else to run with your number. Any runner found to be using the number of another runner will be liable for disqualification.
If you should arrive on the day without your race number please report to registration tent.
Registration
To enter the Half Marathon please ensure you register before the closing date of Friday 19th September 2008.

Before handing your bag in please check that you have completed all the details on the baggage label, (sent to you with your race number) and make sure you attach it to your bag, preferably the night before the race. Please remember not to bring any vauables with you to the event. If you bring your mobile phone, please switch it off before you leave your bag.
