Race Rules

  1. Entrants are required to abide by the Race Rules and marshals’ directions. Age restrictions for each race are: Half Marathon:17 years or older on race date; Multi-terrain:15 years or older on race date; Fun Run: No age restriction, but under 8’s must be accompanied by an adult who has also entered the run.
  2. Entrants for the half marathon must be amateur. The race will be held under UK Athletics rules.
  3. Entries to the Swindon Half Marathon are personal to the applicant, and race numbers cannot be sold or transferred but may be swapped due to injury (see How to Enter page). Any runner who competes in another person's race number that has not been officially swapped, will be disqualified.
  4. No refund will be given if the race has to be cancelled or postponed due to circumstances outside the race organisers’ control.
  5. No refund will be given should an entrant have to withdraw because of injury, illness etc.
  6. The race organisers reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications, including duplicate applications, or alter the date of the event, the course route or distance.
  7. The race organisers, sponsors, charities, suppliers and/or their agents will not be liable for any injury, loss or expense which may arise in consequence of your participation in this event.
  8. Entrants participate in the race at their own risk and undertake not to take part unless they are medically fit to run.
  9. All runners are required to complete the personal, contact and health details details form on the back of their race number. This is a requirement of participation.
  10. Runners starting the race more than 15 mins after the start time may not get a time as the clock may have been reset / altered.
  11. No wheeled vehicles, dogs, following cycles, alcohol or tobacco allowed.
  12. Race marshals and medical team members have the authority to disqualify and remove any runner they consider to be acting dangerously, or to be unfit to compete.
  13. At the discretion of the organising committee, disqualified runners will be removed from the race results, banned from future Swindon Half Marathon's and reported to UK Athletics.
  14. Team Rules – we require competitors to wear official club or team vests.  Team results will be based on cumulative times (not places).
  15. Open Teams – 3 to score for mens teams, 3 to score for ladies’ teams. Second claim rules apply.
  16. Corporate Challenge – A minimum of 4 members (all male or all female) is required to make up a team, there is no limit to the number of runners or teams representing a particular business.  There will be 3 winning prizes for the fastest corporate team – male & female teams; the fastest corporation overall - male & female teams; the corporate team who raise the most money for charity
  17. Runners must be capable of finishing within 4.5 hours. The roads will be progressively reopened to traffic towards the latter stages of the event. Runners finishing in more than 2hrs 45 mins will be asked to run certain sections on the pavement and vehicles will be provided to transport slower competitors back to the finish.
  1. Runners are required to give assistance to fallen runners, and to report any casualties immediately to the nearest first aid post or race marshal.
  2. In the event of any dispute the decision of the Race Referee and Race Director shall be final.
